July 4th, 2018 & Moda Blockheads II, Block #5

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY
Hope you have a safe one.

The kids (kids- one is 47 and one is 43 but they'll always be my kids).
Anyway their work schedules didn't agree so Brian and his wife and 4
came up on Saturday and Max and his 2 kids - his wife had to work -
came up on Sunday.
There were lots and lots of big booming noises and a
heavy downpour Saturday night so Pep relaxed a little
about fire.

I think today I will just sit and stitch while Pep watches TV.

This is Block #5 - Impact
designed by Vanessa Goertzen.
You can download the pattern by clicking here.

And you can go see what Vanessa's been doing
with her block by clicking here.

And since it's the 4th of July it seemed like a good time to
put my BOM pattern "Flags of the American Revolution" on sale.
Pep and I just watched a series on John Adams and the Revolution
and it was awesome.
The pattern includes comments on each flag and why it is included.
The center eagle came from an antique quilt.
Pep says it looks like a turkey that was run over by a truck.
That would be appropriate as Benjamin Franklin
thought our national bird should be a turkey - not an eagle.
You can buy the pattern for 25% off by clicking here.

So now lets go see what the other designers
have done with Vanessa's block.
Lynne of Kansas Troubles
Barb & Mary of Me and My Sister
Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic
Vanessa of Lella Boutique
Betsy Chutchian
Stacy lest Hsu
Laurie Simpson of Minick & Simpson
Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life
Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings
Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts
Carrie Nelson of Moda's Cutting Table

Jo Morton of Jo's Quilts probably won't be posting
in Blockheads much except when it's her block
 but you might just want
to drop in and see what she's doing.

If so, click here.

Well, that makes 12.
I seem to be Lucky 13.

See you next week ladies.

  1. My children are in their 40’s also, but I live for my grandchildren, and quilting. Have a wonderful 4th. Guess I won’t get block 5 done till Thursday. I have to make a potatoes salad and go see fireworks.

  2. I do like your flags quilt! I'm watching the videos with Jenny Doan and Cedar Creek pattern. I have one whose 41 and one who turns 50 in another couple months, and I can't figure out how they got so old, but they are still my boys. =)
