Moda Blockhead #39

Framed Star by Jo Morton

To download the pattern for the block go
to her blog by clicking here.

The question for this week is
"Have you started your Christmas preparations?
Baking? Shopping?
Making a gift list for yourself?"

HO! HO! HO!

I did take the Turkey Table Stand quilt off
and put up

my Holly Tree Lane Table Stand.
Here you see both sides.

We're out of the kits but we still have the pattern.  You can get one by clicking here.
And if you email Tammie and ask her really nice
we could probably still cut a kit or two.

Now, lets to see what the other ladies did with Jo's block.

Moda Blockhead - Block #38

Peace and Plenty
by
Betsy Chutchian

pattern by clicking here.

Question for today:  "What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?
Turkey?  Pie?"

Well that ones easy.
I may have mentioned before that Pep is an awesome chef -
so is our youngest son, Max.
And I was raised by a mother (my father passed away when I was 8) who
LOVED football - (and basketball, and baseball, and golf and tennis - you get the drift.)
Pep on the other hand went to high school in Hialeah Florida and played
soccer, not football.  He doesn't particularly care for football.
So he cooks and I watch football
with our sons and sit and stitch.
I do make jello, etc for youngest grandchildren.

My sister Nancy who makes awesome pies comes over
with a pumpkin pie
and a pecan pie.

That answers the pie part :):):)

Moda Blockheads - Block #37

Double Delight Star
by
Lynne of KT Quilts

To download the pattern go to her blog by clicking here.

I love star blocks - appliqué star block, pieced star blocks.
And this one is great.
Thanks Lynne.

Our question for today is
Do you remember your first Quilt Market as an Exhibitor?  When was it?  Was it exciting?  Terrifying?  Both?

Linda Brannock and I had just left Red Wagon to start our own companies -
Star Quilt Co. for Linda and Jan Patek Quilts for me.
We both loved the way antique quilts look but you can't really use them
so we started overdying new fabric to make it look old.

I had designed "Coming Home Again"

and I thought it was pretty good.

I bought that red striped fabric at one of Linda's garage sales, removed the color and then overdyed it -
the blue plaid in the border came from one of Brians' - my son's - madras shorts.

So I told Pep "If I'm going to really do this I need to go to Market and I've never been there".
He told me to get the dates and he'd take off work and we'd go.
He's only missed one or 2 Markets since - like when he got his hip replaced.  :)

I told Linda and she and Bob decided to go too.

We had booths next to each other.  That was in 1995.
Mark Dunn and Cheryl Freydberg of Moda came to us and asked us to
design fabric.

Our first line, "From the Prairie" came out in l996 and
consisted of prints and brushed wovens or homespuns.
The rest is kind of history.  We worked together until her death a few years ago.
I have no idea how many lines we did - at least 2 a year.
I still miss her.

And I never had time to get terrified.

Now lets go see what the other designers have done with Lynne's block.

My - oh my - oh My
We have been having issues with our email address at Centurylink.
A customer called Tammie and said she had gotten a message that there was no such address as janpatekquilts@centurylink.net.
Tammie called and spent hours and days on the phone with them and she could only get our emails by logging into their website.

Our email won't connect to my computer - says the username or password isn't correct.
We changed the password and it still says the username or password isn't correct.
It won't connect to our phones - says the username or password isn't correct.
We changed the password again and it still says the username or password isn't correct both places.

Then yesterday it wouldn't let me into the website - I got an ERROR message all morning.

WE HAVE A NEW EMAIL ADDRESS
janpatekquiltsinc@gmail.com.
Please send all emails to that address.

The only problem is my gmail address is connected to my blog and I had to transfer all of my past posts to the new address.
I hope I did it correctly but computers are not my area - quilts are.
I guess we'll see tomorrow.
Actually it didn't but together we figured it out.

Hopefully you can go from here to see what the other designers have done with Carrie's block.
