Happy Girl Gang Wednesday

On Thursday again  :)

I'm getting good at this ...

Pep worked for Health Midwest for years

First at Baptist Hospital where he was a

Security Supervisor and when it closed he

transferred to Research Hospital.  Altogether,

between the 2 hospitals he worked there for around

35 years.  He was on the Midnight Shift where he could either

have a very quiet night or a very active and sometimes

violent night. Dealing with people on PCP can be interesting .

For those of you who don't know Kansas

City, both hospitals are close to "the hood".

When he fell and collapsed a lung, we called 911 and they

took him to the hospital in Cameron who said he needed to

go to a larger hospital as they weren't equipped to handle it so

we life flighted him to Research.  I think I have already

said that he was in intensive care for 2 weeks before he

went to join Jesus in heaven.

On April 9th at 3:00 pm, Research is having a

"Celebration of Life" memorial for him.  I've notified the men

that worked with him and Zoie and I will go too.  The boys have already

taken so much time off that they will wait for the memorial we will

have here.  I'll tell you about that later.  For right now, I any of you

want to come, just let Tammy know so I can inform Research as they're

providing munchies.

Someone once said - "In order to be happy you need 3 things -

1.  Someone to love

2. Something to do and

3. Something to look forward to"

I lost my #1, I do have my quilting and eventually I will

join him in heaven.  I did promise Zoie that it would be

quite awhile from now though.

For right now - we do have a kit on sale this week, one

of my spring favorites.

It's Beeskeps and Violets

and you can go to the store to get your copy

by clicking here.

Now, have the best week with the people and the
quilts that you love, and I'll see you next week.

Happy Girl Gang Wednesday #2

On Thursday this week.
This is "Snowy Night"
the quilt that I've been working on.

See all of those scallops with circles in the center.

Last week I told you that I sat and stitched all of
the scallops while Pep was in intensive care.
It gave me something to do and was
soothing to me and to Pep.  When I got home
I couldn't find them.  I searched everywhere but
I finally gave up and started over.
Today I sewed the borders on and tomorrow it
should go to the quilters.  That's fine with me
because I love the quilt but I'm really tired of snow
and those scallops.

This is "Spring Break BOM and the pattern
is on special this week.
You can go to the store to get your pattern
by clicking here.

Happy Girl Gang Wednesday

On Wednesday this week even....

When dad was in intensive care at Research for

2 weeks I went to the hospital every day to sit with

him and, of course, I took some stitching to do.  I

was working on Adleys Quilt at the time but the blocks

were all too large to work on there so instead I switched
to the border swags on Snowy Night.

There are 14 swags each on the top and bottom
borders and 10 swags on each side border.  I sat
and sewed the circles on each swag while Pep
dozed.  It was comforting to me and comforting to Pep
because it made things seem normal to both of us.
He was very used to me stitching while we watched tv.
We got his tablet from at home so he could watch
some of his shows instead of tv.

Anyway, when I got home finally I haven't been able
to find all of the swags. We searched everywhere and
couldn't find them.  So I started in doing them
again and today I finished.  I have the center of the
quilt done and tomorrow will do the borders.  Yay!!!

So tomorrow I will have a new top to send off to
the quilter and today I took a picture of my baby chickens.

To celebrate the new babies our special this week
is the kit for Little Lavender chicken birds.

quilts that you love, and I'll see you next week.
