Back in Missouri we've been having
our normal weather for Memorial Day -
chilly and rainy......Nancy and I did
make it to two of the cemeteries to decorate the
graves nevertheless. Flowers and Flags
were the order of the day.

At home Jeff braved the weather and planted
rows of peas, carrots, beans, radishes and corn.
We'll eat well this summer.

The lettuce and Swiss chard on the deck
are doing quite well too.

As are the tomatoes.  The great big one is a
Goliath and I must confess he was pretty
big when I bought him.  BLT's should be
plentiful this summer.

In this plantar are a Rutgers (great for canning)
and an orange cherry tomato for salads, etc.

My herbs have gone crazy.  Pep makes a roast chicken
dish that uses a lemon, rosemary and thyme - we should
get to eat it all summer too.

Even the Basil seeds have gone bonkers so Pep can
make his awesome mint/basil pesto for our pork chops.
We ran out of the pesto about March and the rest of
the spring we had to do without.

It will take a minute for the basil to get big
enough so lets go see what the others have done with
Lisa's block.

See you next week and
Stay Safe.

Block #19

Compass Point

Its finally Spring in Missouri and
Grandma's iris are in full bloom.

There are beds of them scattered
through the garden -
"Audra'a Iris Garden".

And in keeping with living in the country
we have not only flowers (food for the
eyes and the soul), but also vegetables.
Our friend Jeff doesn't have room for a
large garden at home so we trade space
for veggies.
He's got the garden tilled and prepped
for planting.

And while Jeff's garden grows veggies to can and freeze,
we plant smaller gardens on the deck.
These are bags of potting soil with holes
poked in the bottom sitting on milk
crates.  One is planted with lettuce and
one with Swiss Chard (Pep's favorite0

And, of course we can't survive without herbs,
Rosemary, thyme, oregano and basil.
I planted the basil from seeds and it's not up yet
but any day now!!!!
I just love Spring.

And while we're waiting for the basil to come up,
lets go see what the others have done with
Brigette's block.

See you next week and
Stay Safe.

Block 18 - Bird & Urn

Block # 18

Bird & Urn
by Jan Patek

I realize that the designer's patterns
said Block  # 19
but it was really
Block # 18.

The two little black circles at
the top of the block are
magnets that are holding the block in
place so it can get it's picture taken.

And I finally figured out how to
hold the camera so the block
actually looks square- Yay Me!!!!

If perchance you're new to my blog
and my kind of appliqué, or just need a
refresher course, click here for a tutorial
on Freezer Paper applique and here
for a tutorial on the basic appliqué stitch.

curves (the urn, bird and tulips)

and leaves, click here.

That should get you off
to a good start. :)
Now lets go see that the other
ladies have done with my block.

Have a good week and

It's been a wonderful week.

We have a New Tablestand Quilt Kit
  1. Here's the front

  1. And here's the back.

You can go to the store to buy
 it by clicking here.

Can you tell it's Spring?????????

The weather has been gorgeous
and
Missouri is slowly opening up.

That means that I could Stay Safe
AND
get my hair done.

I'm not sure what nimnill decided
that beauty parlors weren't essential
but he was wrong.

I do quilts - not hair.

It's really hard to keep a
positive attitude when
you look like the
Wicked Witch of the West.
:(

Hopefully that's over
so lets go see that the other
ladies have done with Betsy's block.

Have a good week and
Stay Safe.
