Our Vintage book this month is

still "Country Paths" and this is

November's Song, one of my

favorite quilts from the book.

Since I live in the country, I'm sure

you can figure out that most of the

quilts in this book are among my

favorite all time quilts.

I hope you enjoy making them as much as

I did.

Speaking of "Favorites", this week we have on sale the

BOM pattern for one of my all time favorite quilts,

Feathered Star.

Mark Dunn wanted to buy one of my quilts to

remember me by and that caused a problem

because I don't sell my quilts.

So I gave it to him.

You've got to admit he should be able to

remember who made this quilt :)

You can go to the store to get your

But if you go to the trouble of making

it, I would put your name in the center

instead of mine. If you want to give me

credit for designing it, put my name on

a label sewn to a corner or the back.

I hope you all had a good Labor Day

and were able to also join in some commemoration

of 9-11. In that vein I chose one

of the "Liberty" wallhangings

"Liberty Pumpkin" for our kit on

sale this week.

As we enjoy our freedom this fall we

need to carve our pumpkins while remembering

all the first responders who rushed into the towers

while others rushed out.

I give $11.00 each month to Tunnel to Towers

to help them help us Never Forget those who sacrificed

so much for us. If you haven't already joined I highly

recommend you go to Tunnel to Towers.org and help.

Our Vintage book this month is

Country Paths and this is one of my

favorite quilts from that book

Oak Leaves and Turkey Feathers.

This is the stone path that goes up

to the barn and is a shorter walk than

going out to the drive and up on the driveway.

I used it at least twice a day to go to the

loft and office and to feed the barn cat, Muffin,

and the chickens.

I still go up the walk but from now on, I

come down the driveway and the steps to

the house.

This is what I look like after I fell coming down

the walk. I was leaning forward and

couldn't slow down and straighten up.

Luckily I had my phone with me and could call

Pep. He unhooked his oxygen line and came out

to help because I couldn't get up.

It looks much worse than it feels.

I didn't break anything and lost no teeth which

is amazing.

I was going to say you could use my picture as

part of your Halloween decorations but

decided the pumpkins I'm working on would be better.

This little quilt should be online soon. The fabric is

from "Ghostly Gatherings by Deb Strain.

Block #25 - Heart

The pattern is by Vanessa

but I'm pretty sure that the fabric is by me.

I really like this Iris and Ivy line.

It should be shipping to your

local shop as we speak.

This is probably the last fabric line I'll design.

When Linda Brannock and I started designing

quilts and then fabric, she always said

there was no use going to Market unless

you had at least 6 new patterns.

And I'm sure it takes at least that many to

support a new fabric line.

Well today is my birthday and I am now 78

and I'm afraid I no longer have the energy to

design 6 new quilts for each fabric line.

Its not fair to Moda to design a line and

not do the work promoting it so I've changed the

way I work a little. Deb Strain started designing

for Moda about the same time I did. I talked with her and

I will use her latest lines to design at least

one or 2 quilts. I should have a pattern and kit

out of her line "Ghostly Greetings" soon.

It helps her and it gives me something to work with

without all of the pressure to do 6.

Meantime it's September and the Vintage

book for this week is Country Paths.
