Life continues......

With a big hole in it ..... but it does continue.  The grief ebbs and flows - I cry for awhile and then I'm kind of ok for awhile.  God bless quilting.

We got home from Springfield at 1:00 am and finally to bed at 3:00 so I'm pretty slow at whatever I do.    Jake and Zoie went with us - Jake and Pep drove home after the service.  The kids did enjoy getting to see their cousins (Jim has 4 grandchildren) but would have preferred different circumstances.

Tori and Falisha took care of the office today.  I ran errands, took Jake and Zoie to town and am going to sit and stitch when I finish blogging.

I got an email this morning from Moda Lissa today saying that the "Audra's Iris Garden" precuts were starting to ship today. Seems appropriate somehow.  Audra was Jim and my Grandma Laird.  :)

This is "Charming Posies" - made from Audra's charm packs (3) and yardage.

It seems really silly since it's only January and I am usually a winter person, but I am ready for spring.

  2. Yes, just sat and listened to music with my husband and stitched on the Mystery Quilt. Quilting calms the soul. Thanks for the hugs.

  3. Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4

Oh Jan, my heart hurts for you. I shall say a prayer for you. Grief is such a very difficult things...especially when it involves a very beloved and special person in our lives.

Quilting is very therapeutic. In fact, it's why I got into quilting. When our son Ethan (he was 7) passed way in 2010, I had to take up a hobby. Though I don't quilt as much as I'd like to--time doesn't allow with homeschooling our other precious son--it's a very productive and wonderful hobby.

I LOVE that quilt! And I can understand being ready for spring. The hope that the sunshine and spring wildflowers bring are like none other! Hugs!

  4. It is good that you can stitch to comfort you, I do enjoy creating and it keeps me centered. I think we all all sick of winter this year, maybe it is because we are getting older;)

  7. I'm glad that you are safe at home from the funeral and have your quilting to comfort you. It helped me to heal when I lost my 17 yr. old daughter. Each day will get the tiniest bit better until one day you are left with only the good memories and very little pain left in your heart. You'll be in my prayers, Jan.

  9. Hello. I lost my mother this year and it is/was very hard on me. There has been so much, so many lost in the last few months, it really tears up our hearts. I found the following to be very helpful though. We never want to be the one to have lost someone- we never want to be the one to be able to comfort someone else because of the loss we've experienced. But, unfortunately, in this life, we will all experience loss. However, there is comfort...
