Happy Blockheads 4 Wednesday

Block #21
Shiney Bauble
by Janet Clare

My 20 gallon fish tank got here and Google
(the black fish) now has room for a friend.
Her name is Annie because she's an Oranda
(at least I think she's a she :)

These two are Gage and Hunter (Jeff's grandsons)
who I gave my old aquarium to.

They went down to the creek and caught fish

for their aquarium.  They said there are 23 in all,

a mixture of bluegill, catfish and minnows.

And of course they couldn't stop there.
They made a small terrarium for the frogs
they caught.  They farm is kind of "hog
heaven" for little boys. :)

Below are reader's quilts -
first by Norma Whaley

and then this awesome storage bucket
by Susanne Steil

And this is one of the quilts from 1 of the
Folk Art Favorites - our vintage books
on sale this month for 12.00 instead of
$14.95

Our sale item this week is the patterns
for the Flock Party BOM.  It's August and
before you know it Thanksgiving and
Christmas will be rolling around.

But before we start fretting about that, lets
go see what the other ladies have
done with Janet's block

Have a great week.

Happy Blockheads 4 Wednesday

Block #20
Stop, Go
by Stacy lest Hsu

This is going to be short because
I've been very busy this morning.

For years I have had a 30 gallon (I keep
wanting to say a 30 gallon computer - but no
its an aquarium). It was that big because you
need 10 gallons of water for each goldfish and
I usually had at least 3 plus a couple of algae eater
fish to help keep the aquarium clean.

Well, the algae eater fish must have died and
somehow I missed it because the front of
the aquarium was covered with spots of algae.
One morning when I was complaining to
Tammy about how bad the aquarium looked, she
told me that they had ones now that
would pretty well keep themselves clean-
they would even tell you when the water
needed changing.

Since I am pretty OCD, I ordered one, it
got here, and I set it up.
That's when I discovered that I thought I
had ordered a 20 gallon tank but it was only
a 5 gallon tank.  Luckily I only had one gold fish
left and it was still  small.

I reordered a 20 gallon tank immediately, it
came this morning and it's mostly set up now.

Our handyman person is Jeff and he lives in a trailer
behind the barn.  His grandsons (they're around
7 & 9) are here and I told him they could have
the old aquarium if they wanted it.
At the moment it's holding a catfish, a
bluegill and some minnows they caught
at the creek.   :). Hog heaven
for little boys

Our special this week is
Folk Art Favorites
$12.00 each instead of $14.95

You can go to the store to get your copies

Anyway ladies, I need to go goldfish shopping
this week after I check out what the rest of the ladies
did with Stacy's block.
Have a great week.

Happy Blockheads 4 Wednesday

Block #19 - Clover

by Robin Pickens

You can go to her blog

                                                                 to download the pattern

                                                                   by clicking here

This is Scrap-Patch - a quilt that I designed

back in 2003.  I did it in all soft brown back

then and am going to do it again this year

as a QAL in my favorite purples.

I got my new sewing machine after my old

one died and it was a joy to sit there and

start sewing the 9-patches.  I had a lot of help

                                                                both with the sewing

(Chantilly kept trying to catch the needle)

and withhere stacking the finished blocks.  Midnight was
sure that if he didn't help hold them down they
would fall off and get messed up.

When I sat down to stitch last night I had to

stop and go over to the window to take this picture.

I'm sorry its so blurry but I had to take it

through the window.  Every evening a doe comes to

the bird feeder out front to eat the corn that the

birds have left.  Last night she brought her fawn with

her.  We see does and bucks quite often but

very seldom see a fawn.  It was awesome!

And speaking of awesome, we have a great

                                                item on sale this week.

Baskets, Berries & Leaves BOM

the pattern for the entire quilt for 20% off.

Be sure to go to the store to get your copy

by clicking here.

These are ferns growing out in my garden.

And showing them is a good way to tell you that we got

mixed up last week.  I'm pretty sure we had Zoie send

out an email saying that both the kit and the

patterns for Fern Hill would be on sale for the

week.  Well, it was supposed to be this week

so I'm not sure they were in the store for the

right price.

This week they should be and if they aren't just
call Tammy (816-632-7632) and she'll fix it for you.
And you might want to hurry because we didn't
have very many kits left.
This is still one of my favorite fabric lines and
favorite quilts.

Now lets go see what the others have done with Robin's block.
