Day 10 - All Good Things

For those of you who don't go to Quilt Market, Carrie always says at the end of each Market "All good things must come to an end and so it is with Fall (or spring) Quilt Market."  So I couldn't resist using it on our Blog Hop.

It really has been fun seeing the great variety of places where the designers come from and live.  I especially like the guy in the thong from Austin.  We don't see much of that in rural America.  :)

I only made 7 quilts out of Fellowship and I've showed you all of the patterns for them.  If you missed a day or want to see them again you can go here to see them all.

So since I don't have a new pattern to showcase today, I decided to put 2 kits on sale.  The first is Pumpkins & Geese.  It rained here all day yesterday and a cold front moved in.  The weather is decidedly and deliciously Pumpkins and Geese weather.

We finished filming the Needleturn Applique tutorial at Missouri Star yesterday.  I think it's really going to be neat.  Can't wait to see what Jake (Jenni's son Jake not my grandson Jake) does with the editing.  We had to film the 3rd session twice because we didn't have my microphone turned on  ---- again.  (That happened back in May too!)  So I just got home and turned around to go back for our Girl Gang meeting.

I am one tired puppy today.

This is the 2nd kit we have on sale today.  I have always said that this is not a Halloween quilt - it's a "statement" quilt.

Don't forget to go comment on my post if you want a chance on the goodies.  The winner will be annnounced tomorrow so it's now or never.

And with no further comment lets go see what we saved till the end - the best I'm sure!

Day 9 - Friday the 13th comes on Thursday this month

And considering the designers we're going to visit, it's a lucky 13th.

The pattern for the Fellowship quilt I'm showcasing is Linda's Baskets by Brannock and Patek.  Linda handed me these basket blocks one day when I was at her house and said "here, do something with these."  So I shrunk a few, made some with flowers and some without, added a bunch of borders and went back to her house to do the color as only Linda can do it.  I like the quietness of this quilt.

The quilt kit that's on sale today is Autumn Kisses and Hugs.
Enjoy!
I'm off to film.

But first let's visit

KATHY SCHMITZ
SWEETWATER
and
V AND CO.

Oh, and if you haven't gotten in the drawing for my goodies, click here to make a comment and have a chance at winning.

Day 8 - And I'm not sure what to say ....

I'm sure that by now all of you have heard about the sad happenings in Libya and Egypt yesterday.  Pep said that I should say the the more really crazy people there are in the world - the more we need our quilting.  I know it definitely gets me through the hard spots.
And while I am not a Muslim, I do know from the reading I've done that Mohammed would no more want things like that done than Jesus would have wanted the Inquisition or Witch burnings.

This is "Little Cabin in the Big Woods", my latest Fellowship pattern that I'm showcasing.  Right now I feel like staying in my house and cooking and quilting.  So that's what I'll probably do today.  That and get things ready for filming the last 2 sessions of the Needleturn Applique Tutorial with Jenny at Mo. Star.  We're filming again tomorrow.  I can't believe it.

For my quilt kit specials today, I decided to offer a couple of my more patriotic kits.

And dedicate them both to all the valiant men and women - in the military and out of it - who give their lives in service of their country.  Our prayers go out to the families.

That said, let's go see what our 3 Moda designers have in store for us.

Day 7 - Lucky 7

And I hope it's a lucky day for all of you.  The weather here is stupendous - cool, crisp air but sunny and with just an edge of warmth to come this afternoon.

My "Snow Guys" would melt though.  Ah well, I'm sure they'll have their day, come December & January in Missouri.  For right now they'll have to settle for being my showcase Fellowship pattern.

My quilt kit on special today is "Happy Hollow".  Come Fall it is one of the two quilts I usually choose to hang in the foyer. (The other one is Country Paths but I'm out of kits for it.)  And I only have 2 kits left of Happy Hollow so first come, first served.

After you check things out here don't forget to hop over to

and see what goodies they have in store for you.

Day 6 - and it doesn't even feel like Monday

But it is Monday.  It's easy to lose track of what day it is when you're hopping.

The Fellowship pattern I'm showcasing today is Harvest Home, another quilt full of my favorite things.

I love all of the seasons but I think Fall is my favorite.  We're getting cool air moving in.  Yesterday was beautiful and today promises to be the same.  My Dahlia is finally blooming and we're getting ready for Pumpkin Days.  After the heat of the summer, it feels like we can finally relax.

The quilt kit on special today is "Sunflowers and Scarecrows".  That must be a purple finch sitting on the pumpkin.  :)  Well I like purple.

I'm leaving in a minute to run over to Missouri Star.  They're closed on Monday but Jenny and I are  filming the 1st two sections of the You Tube "Needleturn Applique Tutorial".  The one we were going to film last May  :).  Then we're supposed to film the last two sections in two weeks.  We shall see what we shall see.

But first I'm going to hop over to the blogs of

and see what they have in store for everyone.

Isn't it fun finding out where and how all the different designers live.

Day 5 - Just all over the country

Welcome to Day 5 of the Blog Hop.
We had a really fun day yesterday hitting the garage sales - got Cullen and Quinn some neat after school clothes.  I'm off to Kansas City this morning to go to church and take Cullen and Quinn home.  And Strawberry the cat.  Can't forget her.  She always comes with Cullen.

Today the Fellowship pattern I'm showing you is "Santa Claus Lane".  I originally designed this at the request of Carol Veillon to put in the premier issue of "Simply Vintage", her primitive magazine.  But it's only in French so I made the little quilt again out of Fellowship.  It's fun to see your quilt in a magazine where you can only read the name of your quilt and your own name but I thought you all would like the directions in English.

And I decided to put "Garden Kisses & Hugs" kit on special today.  This has been a horrible gardening summer unless you wanted to use all the water for the surrounding area keeping your garden alive.  I didn't.  My dahlia got it's first bloom this week.  So I decided to bring my garden inside in a quilt.

Now hop on over to Iowa, New Jersey and California to see

and learn about the world largest Cheeto  :)

Day 4 - Hop, Hop, Hop

Welcome to Day 4 of the Hop.

This is going to be short because it's Saturday, the grandkids are here and Cameron is having a citywide garage sale.  I'm off to find "after school" and "playing at the farm" clothes for Cullen and Quinn.  And maybe for Zoie if I can find anything she likes.  She has gotten very picky about her clothes.

Meanwhile the Fellowship quilt pattern I'm showcasing today is Pine Tree Ridge BOM.  It's full of all of the things I love about winter.  Hopefully you can find a shop near you teaching it but if not, you can get some friends together and have your own class each month.  You can buy it at your local shop or from us if there isn't one near you.

And the kit I chose to be on sale today is my little Needleroll kit.  I use my needleroll every day, couldn't sew without it.  And it rolls up and buttons so I just stick it in my Girl Gang bag with my block and off we go - today to the park while the kids play after the garage sale and lunch.  Seemed like a good day to put it on sale.  (All orders over $50.00 get free shipping with code MODA.)

BUT  - first I need to hop over and see what my friends from Moda are up to

I just love to follow all 3 of their blogs and I'm sure they have great things in store for us.  See you tomorrow.  I'm off to hop.

Oh - and thanks so much for all of your great comments.  It's really fun to hear from you all.  If you haven't read my post day blog, go to the 7th and comment so you have a chance at the goodies.

Day 3 - My Day ---- And my Birthday!

Welcome to Day 3 of the Moda Designers Blog Hop.

Day 3 is my Day, shared with two other great Moda Designers.
It's also my birthday.  And I have a birthday sister Cherie Ralston, so if you see her be sure to wish her Happy Birthday.  She's a lot younger than me though, just a spring chick.

Anyway, the theme of the Blog Hop, as I'm sure you know by now, is "Buzz about your Hometown."
I've been reading with interest about Barbara Brackman's Lawrence, (know it well - both Pep and I went to KU), Pat Sloan's very urban neighborhood and Aneela Hooey's home just down the street from Queen Elizabeth's Windsor Castle.
Well, my neighborhood is a little different.  While our address is Cameron, Mo., we don't live inside the city limits.  But I'll tell you a little bit about it anyway.

The sign says "Crossroads of the Nation" and it's at the intersection of two major highways in the US.  Highway 36 and Interstate 35.  Highway 36 goes across the country East to West and I-35 goes across the country South to North.

Since Cameron isn't a county seat, we don't have a square with a courthouse in the middle.  Instead we have a square with a park and a bandstand.  In the summer there are band concerts and dog shows and barbeque contests in the park.  I think I like a park better than a courthouse.
My daughter Kelly and Jake and Zoie live in an apartment on one side of the park.  I ran up to their apartment to borrow a stool to get high enough to take this picture.  It's what happens when you're short.  I took it back and told her I was off to take "pictures of scenic Cameron"  :).

Cameron is an hour north of Kansas City, Mo. and is, to a great extent, a "bedroom" community. Pep works in Kansas City and commutes every day (we have a Yaris that gets 40 mpg) as do a lot of people who live in Cameron.
When we moved here 40 years ago there was a population of around 4500.  Most rural towns have shrunk in size but Cameron has grown.  We now have around 9000.  We did it by building 2 prisons, a Maximum Security prison and a Medium Security prison.  (I don't think the prison population is included in the count.)

The prisons do provide employment and you need jobs to keep people in the area.

We also have some fun stores in the area - a great primitives store full of antiques and really good local crafts you don't find anywhere else.

AND TWO, count them TWO local quilt shops.  (When I first moved to Cameron, I had to drive to Liberty - about 45 minutes away - to find a quilt shop.)

Crossroads Quilting is in Cameron itself and is the home of

Marie and Linda.

Missouri Star Quilt Co. is about 12 miles away down 36 Highway and is the home of

the Doans and in particular my friend and very talented designer of precut quilts

Jenny Doan.  It is so nice to have her in the area.   We are "compadres" even if we only get to see each other every few months because we're both sooooo busy.

Back to my home.  If you're coming from Kansas City, you get off I-35 about 6 miles before you get to Cameron and turn right.

Go past Wallace State Park and down a couple of windy roads until you come to

a black mailbox on Last Dr.

Then turn right again and go up our drive

to our house.

Not as exciting as down the street from Windsor Castle but just right for who it's for.

Carol Veillon and Guy from Quiltmania dropped in for a surprise visit before Quilt Market last spring.  (She had emailed asking to come but our email Black Hole Syndrome had hit and I never got the email.)  She took a chance anyway.  I just love her to pieces.  We were packing for Market, Pep in his scrubs, me in my work clothes and the house full of piles of things.  They just moved things around (don't look behind the couch or under the table) and Guy worked his magic.  It is an awesome article and I thank her very much.  I have a few for sale and you can get one by clicking here.

Now for the part you really came for - the goodies.  Here's my little quilt I made with the Fellowship Candy.  To download the pattern to make it click here.

At Market last spring I got the idea of running around and gathering Candy from the designers that were there.  I didn't get all of the Mini Charms because I didn't think of it early enough but I got quite a few.  Anyway, I have a set of the charms and the book with all of the patterns made from the charms (or candy pieces).
I'm also throwing in a Charm Bundle and Turnover from Fellowship and a set of the 7 patterns I did using Fellowship.
Make a comment, any old comment and we'll have the random number generator pick a winner on the 14th.
And don't forget, any orders over $50.00 during the Hop get free shipping if you type in MODA.

Now make a comment and then hop on over and see what

have in store for you.

Moda Hop - Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of the Moda Designers Blog Hop.
I really don't like a post without pictures so what I have decided to do is show you my new Fellowship patterns one by one and then add a picture of a seasonal kit or pattern each day.  Some of the seasonal ones will be on special and some will just be new so be sure and check back each day.

This is "Heart to Heart", a little wallhanging or Tablerunner made out of Fellowship.  You can just look at it or you can buy the pattern here.  You can also check with your local quilt shop to see if they have a kit as Moda sold kits for it.

This is "Jack at the Gate" and you can get it as a pattern here or as a kit here.  The kit is on sale today only.   Can you tell that I'm ready for Fall!

For the duration of the Moda Hop (thru the 14th) there's free shipping on all orders of $50.00 or more.  Just type in the code MODA.

Now Hop on over to

and see what they have in store for you.
