This is my quilt Sleigh Bells.
It was a Mystery Quilt one year so you had to
get the kit each month in order to make the quilt.
Now Martingale has done an awesome job of
publishing a book full of pictures of each block
along with the patterns.
I am really happy - they did a wonderful job.
Thanks Martingale. :)
Hopefully most shops will be carrying it so go to your local quilt shop and see.
Or of course, we're carrying them in our store.
If you're a shop and want to order some for your store
you can order by visiting their website at
MartingaleWholesale.com
or by calling 1-800-426-3126
I got an email awhile ago asking for the name of a quilt a lady had seen.
She described it as having
"a house and a tree and a cat".
I really couldn't think at the time but
it might be this one.
If so it is Cherry Tree Lane.
I decided to put this on the blog because by the time I
thought of it, I had, of course, lost the woman's email.
Back to SLEIGH BELLS.
Make a comment - any old comment - about winter,
about summer, about anything --
and next week I will have the Random Number Generator pick a
winner to send a copy of Sleigh Bells.
So now lets go see what the other designers
have done with Jo's block.
Lynne of Kansas Troubles
Barb & Mary of Me and My Sister
Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic
Vanessa of Lella Boutique
Betsy Chutchian
Stacy lest Hsu
Laurie Simpson of Minick & Simpson
Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life
Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings
Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts
Carrie Nelson of Moda's Cutting Table
Well, that makes 12.
I seem to be Lucky 13.

ReplyDeleteI live in Florida, so I think it's great to be warm in winter. Love your Sleigh Bells quilt!
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful summer here in Germany, hot and sunshine and ice cream each day. I love summer it's my favorite season:-)
ReplyDeleteI love walking my dog in the woods in the winter. The gray sky, the black, bare tree branches all make our brilliantly red cardinals stand out.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy all our seasons! I like winter best though. :)
ReplyDeleteWell dear Jan, I am fortunate to live on the southern coast of North Carolina. We have four pretty distinct seasons. Last year we had (for us) a cold winter and I promised that I would it complain if it got really hot & humid this summer...needless to say, I have had to zip my mouth since mid June! Thank you for all your amazing designs.
ReplyDeleteI am loving that block in the Lilac Ridge fabrics, and I used to hate purple!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt this would be for passing on down to someone "quilt worth!". Love your purple line......it's so hard finding pretty purples! Jmh
ReplyDeleteI love summer! Although I love Christmas and I love snowmen and all of the winter scenes, I am a hot weather girl!
ReplyDeleteTotally in love with Lilac Ridge. Love it so much, I purchased 2 fat quarter bundles. Spring is my fav, how ever this year we went from Winter to Summer in less than a week. Bummer!
ReplyDeleteI love all the seasons in NW Washington (even the rainy one). Blessings to those who are dealing with extremely hot weather and fires.
ReplyDeleteI love Fall and Winter the best. First, fall starts to cool off the weather from summer (I hate the hot months) and then winter brings the RAIN!!! I’ve loved the rain since I was a little girl. Thank you for a chance to win Sleigh Bells
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to Sleigh Bells and cooler weather. I'm a wimp when it comes to heat.
ReplyDeleteI like Summer, but I love Sleigh Bells, Snowmen, and Christmas even more ! I
ReplyDeleteMartingale does make lovely books! Since I don't like cold weather at all, I think Sleigh Bells is perfect - all the fun of making a snowman without having to put a coat and mittens on!
ReplyDeleteWinter baking and nesting with needle and thread, or summer frolics with needle and thread... it's a tie!
ReplyDeleteSleigh Bells looks like a real winner with all your fun designs wrapped up in one happy quilt. It makes winter fun! I would love to include it in my quilt book library!!
ReplyDeleteSeasons are different all over .... in Canada where I grew up..... winter seemed long and the summers short.... the snow was sooooo pristine. Now here in Arizona good weather exceeds the bad and it is pure heaven. Sleigh bells quilt reminds me of a Canadian Christmas
ReplyDeleteAlthough winter is not my favorite season weather wise, I love making winter quilts for my home. LOVE this pattern!
ReplyDeleteMaking this lovely quilt would help pass the time during the long, cold, snowy winters that we have in central NY
ReplyDeleteI am one of "those" people, I like winter. I love to watch snow fall and even enjoy scooping it. Too bad summer last so long; I could use a little more winter and fall.
ReplyDeleteThis summer has been too hot! I am looking forward to fall.
ReplyDeletemaureeneh52@hotmail.com

ReplyDeleteYou are the Queen of Folk Art! I have been smitten with Folk Art ever since I began quilting, many, many years ago! I've tried to branch out into other genres' but now your Sleigh Bells is pulling me back! Hot & dry here in the foothills of the Sierra Mtns. Praying for rain to help extinguish the many fires....................
ReplyDeleteI would add a little "sleigh bell" embellishment (Jan would probably do applique!) around on the reindeer's
ReplyDeleteneck...perfect! Beautiful quilt! On my wish list now!
I really like your patterns and reading about your 'little corner of the world.' I live in SE Ohio and it is hot right now. Fall is beautiful in this part of the country.
ReplyDeleteFall is the best time to quilt!! Getting ready to attend our yearly fall quilt retreat. Going to make your pattern...the witch is in and so many other project too.
ReplyDeleteLove fall!
ReplyDeleteWe are having an unusual heat wave here in the Palouse country of eastern Washington state. 103 temps yesterday and today!!! Wouldn't it be wonderfully "cool" to work on this awesome winter project to help keep one's mind off the heat? Congratulations to you and Martingale for another well-done collaboration.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the bit of whimsy your blocks add to the blockheads!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win. I’m looking forward to your next blockhead block!
ReplyDeleteSleigh Bells looks like the perfect cozy winter activity!
ReplyDeleteI love Sleigh Bells! I'm looking forward to autumn and winter because our spring and summer have been a total washout. Nothing but rain, rain, rain.
ReplyDeleteSO ready for cooler weather. “Sleigh Bells” would be the perfect project to remind me that the cool is on it’s way!
ReplyDeleteAfter this hot, humid, and horrible summer, we are looking forward to winter.
ReplyDeleteIt would be wonderful to win Sleigh bells and start stitching it this fall (my favorite season). I love reading your blog and watching your videos!
ReplyDeleteSleigh Bells is so fun--love it! Even though it's been terribly hot, I'm not really ready to start thinking about winter yet--seems like it was just here--lol!
ReplyDeleteSleigh Bells is so pretty! This summer has been extra hot, so we can only dream about winter, can't we? It is so humid here in Alabama. We won't have any cooler weather until the end of October. Ugh! I love Jan's patterns and entertaining videos! Pam in Alabama

ReplyDeleteYour patterns are so fun. Love the fall ones.
ReplyDeleteThis summer has been so unbearably HOT that a stitch or two of snowmen and winter will be a welcome relief. I am so happy with the primitive style of your patterns. They are cozy and feel like home to me. Thanks so much for the give away.
ReplyDeleteI am just about ready to be starting Christmas gifts. I know that there are many ideas in your book. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteOur spring and summer has been very rainy. I look forward to the crisp cool days of fall. I love doing handwork on fall nights! Thank you for the opportunity to win a treasure!
ReplyDeleteSeeing this quilt just makes one happy!
ReplyDeleteCalgary is about to break all time heat records this afternoon. The previous record of 34 C (93 F) was set in 1991. We're at that now and a high of 37 C (99 F) is predicted. That's no big deal for some of you, but it is hot for the foothills of the Rockies. I watered the gardens early this morning and I'm cooling off in my basement sewing room.
ReplyDeleteWe got tired of the heat after living in the Phoenix valley for 47 years and moved to the mountains. Love it and love primitive anything. I was always drawn to wool, but stayed away from it because wool and Phoenix don't go together. Now I can use wool!
ReplyDeleteI love all the seasons for different reasons. I love it when a new season comes and I can decorate my house.
ReplyDeleteI like summer the best but winter in Central Florida is pretty good too!
ReplyDeleteLove the change of the seasons...your book looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love summer but now that I live where there isn't the dramatic change of seasons I realize how important the change of seasons is to appreciating each season.
ReplyDeleteI Love Spring & Winter! I live in FL. where temps can be a little wicked HOT! At least in Spring we have a Wonderful reprieve from the heat, with cooler breezes flowing daily.. Great for cleaning out my gardens & planting Beautiful new flowers..Winter can be the same, as well! A change of comforting cool temps & then, about a couple of times, we get below freezing temps, but only briefly.. Summer here worries everyone, because of the Hurricane threats & Hits.. (Last Year was Horrific.. Fall here is still Hot, so to get relief, when we can, we are off to the mountains.. I LOVE the True four Seasons, so for all who have that, Please Enjoy each one..
ReplyDeleteI love having all four seasons. However, with this August heat here in central Missouri, I find myself thinking more and more about Fall.
ReplyDeleteSpring and Fall for me, of course we really don't have much winter here in California! I'd love to have a copy of this book! Thank you for the opportunity to win one!
ReplyDeleteI love all 4 seasons and Jan Patek patterns!!
ReplyDeleteI love winter til mid March here in northern Michigan then I’m done

ReplyDeleteI was born & raised in the Midwest. I have lived in several states. I always come back to my love of midwest winters! I am dreaming of a white Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteI love Fall the best, but I also love everything that you design. I just wish I had the time to MAKE it all!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI would be hard pressed to pick a favorite of your creations, I think I have bought enough patterns to sew & quilt until the end of time! Can’t resist!
ReplyDeleteI love Fall the best but Winter beckons us to cozy up with a quilt and sit by the fire. Sleigh Bells is the perfect quilt for Christmas and for the entire winter season. I just love it! Thanks for a chance to win your new book.
ReplyDeleteCarmen
I’m so done with summer with all the wildfires here in California! I’m ready to start thinking of winter and cozy winter quilts!
ReplyDeleteSummer is slipping away but am looking forward to the kinder Fall weather and even the cold and snow. Here in Canada, we do love our Winter.
ReplyDeleteSince i have discovered the love of quilting..winter has become my fav season as i dont feel guilty about sewing and neglecting my yard work..
ReplyDeleteWhere has the summer gone? Winter will provide for more quilting time, looking forward to that!
ReplyDeleteEach season flies by so quickly it is over before I can really enjoy it. Love the cool crispness of fall, the cold zing of winter, the freshness of spring and the warm colorful summer.
ReplyDeleteYou are the queen of primitive/folk/country applique design, Jan! You are the first designer who inspired me to strive towards quilt making. The Snowbound quilt did it for me. After 20+ years of my own quilt making journey, I can now say I am experienced enough to take on just about any quilting challenge! Love your comforting, home-you designs.
ReplyDeleteHome-y, not home-you, as word correct suģgests.
ReplyDeleteJan your quilts are amazing, they fit my style to a tee...thanks for sharing your talent with us.
ReplyDeleteBarb

ReplyDeleteChristmas is my favorite time of the year!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to be living back where there are 4 seasons. Getting lots of quilting done.

ReplyDeleteReally looking forward to Autumn. It's my favorite season and I have lots more time for quilting.
ReplyDeleteThis Sleigh Bells quilt is perfect for cuddling up on a cold winter evening. I am truly looking forward to the chill of winter following a heat wave that broke a local record from 1961 (!!) for consecutive days over 100 degrees...now that's HOT! Thank you for doing what you do to bring a little folk art into our lives, you and your team are deeply appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI would love a copy of the sleigh bells book! But I love summer!
ReplyDeleteYour Girl Gang BOM was what got me started with my love of appliqué Jan. Those early days in the first little shop in Hamilton will always be cherished! Thank you! I can't wait to try Sleigh Bells!
ReplyDeleteI love the primitive look!
ReplyDeleteLove watching your tube tuts.
