Happy Girl Gang Wednesday

The 20th of June is American Eagle Day

American Eagle Day celebrates the day

that the Eagle was first included in the seal of

the United States in 1782.

Now it also serves to remind us to protect the Bald Eagles.

In honor of the eagle our sale item this month is

Eagles and Roses, one of my favorite BOMs

I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did.
Right now I'm working on a quilt I designed using
Deb Strain's latest fabric line.
It's called Santas Tree Farm and besides Santas and trees
it has snowballs, mittens, and of course stars.
And naturally, my printer stopped working so
everything is taking a lot longer.  I have to
convert everything to pdfs and send them up to Tammy
to print.  Then either she brings them down or
I go up and get them to proof.
Whew, I'm tired and pretty soon I need to go
up to the barn to feed the cat and shut up the
chickens.  My new chickens including the bantys
are due to ship next week.
I'll take pictures for you as soon as I get them.
Right now I'm going to feed the cat, shut up the
chickens and take a small nap,
Have the best week with the people and quilts
that you love.

Happy Girl Gang Wednesday AND

 Happy Flag Day.

I'm really rushed today because I've spent

most of the day designing a new quilt out

of Deb Strains coming line

Woodland Winter.

I can't show it to you yet because it

won't be out for awhile but I can tell you that

it's her next Christmas line which gives you a

general idea of the colors.

I've been somewhat sad lately because one night

Jeff neglected to shut up the banty's house and

a raccoon got in and killed all of my banty's, including

the babies.

Now every night when I go up to feed the cat, I close

up the houses myself.  They may have to go to bed

a little early but they get to wake up in the morning.

If you want something done right, do it yourself.

Jeff still feeds them all because my 78 year old self

isn't up to carrying the buckets of feed but I can still

shut the doors on the houses and lock them.

I went to Cackle Hatchery's website and ordered some

bantys and my usual order of Buff Orpingtons for eggs.

I usually order straight run so I get both hens and roosters.

I also ordered one Silver Laced Wyandotte rooster

because he disappeared out of the big house.  (I suspect

the same culprit.)  He got along just fine with the Orpintons

so I'm sure this one will too.

And speaking of shutting them up, it's getting to be

about time to go do that.

But first the sale item of the day.

It's American Eagle month -

American Eagle day is June 20th.  The observance

celebrates the day in 1782 when the bird was added

to the official seal of the United States.

Our sale item this week is the BOM pattern for

Eagles and Roses.  You can go to our store to get

the pattern by clicking here

That's about it for today.

Have the best week with the people and quilts that you love.

Happy Girl Gang Wednesday

 The special this week is
Audra's Iris Garden BOM
for 20% off.

This quilt has a story to go with it.
My father was a veterinarian and a
major in the Army.
He died when I was 8 of Hodgkins
Disease and my mother and her 4 children
moved to Kansas City where she built a house.
While waiting for the house to be finished we
lived with my father's parents, Ralph and Audra
Laird.

Grandmother Laird had some beautiful iris
and when our house was finished she brought
some to our house and planted them.
When I grew up, got married and we moved
to Cameron, mother brought some to our
house for our garden.

Our son Max now has some at his house,
we'll move some to Brians house this fall
and Kelly has moved in with us
so we share ours with her.
Audra's Iris Garden has certainly spread out.
Every Spring when the iris bloom I think of
her and what a wonderful woman she was.
And of course, being who I am I had to
record it in a quilt.  I hope you enjoy making it
as much as I did.

Have a good week ladies with the people
and quilts that you love.
