Moda Blockheads II, Block #4

Roman Cross
by
 Brigitte Heitland  of Zen Chic

You can go to Brigitte's blog to see what she did with the block by clicking here
and download the pattern by clicking here.

Meanwhile not only has the Blockheads quilt been moving along
so has the year.-------It's almost the 4th of July!
I'm not at all sure how that happened.

It's always a big day around here and since we live in
the country and have had a couple of good rains lately
we can shoot off all the fireworks we want.

Long May She Wave

To add to the celebration we're putting a few kits on sale.
There's a 4th each year and we only have one or two of these kits left.
There is a tutorial on the eagle's wings in Long May She Wave on
my YouTube Channel.  I thought the wings might be a bit
"challenging" so I did a tutorial on them.
You can watch the tutorial by clicking here.
You can go to the store to get your kit by clicking here.

Let Freedom Ring

The kit for Four Flags is on sale for 25% off too and I
left American Spirit on special for one more day (at least).
As many of you know, I love quilts with Flags and Eagles
so I'm leaving American Spirit on special for at least one more day too.

So now lets go see what the other designers
have done with Brigette's block.

And Betsy is running around like a crazy person doing workshops and giving lectures (if we all were from the country I would say "like a chicken with it's head cut off" but that might offend some city people) so to see her block to Moda's Cutting Table - listed below.

Lynne of Kansas Troubles
Barb & Mary of Me and My Sister
Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic
Vanessa of Lella Boutique
Betsy Chutchian
Stacy lest Hsu
Laurie Simpson of Minick & Simpson
Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life
Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings
Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts
Carrie Nelson of Moda's Cutting Table

Jo Morton of Jo's Quilts probably won't be posting
in Blockheads much except when it's her block
 but you might just want
to drop in and see what she's doing.

If so, click here.

Well, that makes 12.
I seem to be Lucky 13.

See you next week ladies.

Moda Blockheads 2 - Block #3

Pennsylvania
by Carrie Nelson

To download the pattern go to
 http://www.modafabrics.com/bh2_cn_pennsylvania.pdf
For some reason when we copy the link the www. doesn't copy but when
I type the whole thing out, it works.
Huzzah! huzzah.

I would send you to all the other Blockhead blogs but I doubt if those
links work also so lets just try
going to http://blog.modafabrics.com/block-heads-2/  which is the link
to the archive.  You should be able to get to everyones blog from there.
I'm always interested to see what all the other designers have done.

Besides spending most of my day trying to get my blog to work, I
have had time to work on Block 5 of my Mystery Quilt.

Since the Mystery Quilt starts in February, this is Block #5 and you can join
the fun by going to http://www.janpatekquiltsinc.com
The Mystery Quilt is under "More",
dropdown Clubs, Mystery Quilt Club.

See you next week ladies.

Moda Blockheads 2- Block #2

Buckeye Beauty
designed by
Barb & Mary
of
Me and My Sister Designs

It's made from my fabric line Lilac Ridge.
You can download the pattern by clicking here
and go to  Barb & Mary's blog to see what they did
with the block by clicking here.

After a rather rough start we're pretty sure that all the links work now.
We found out the hard way what we should have known to begin with---
you have to type www. before the address.  :)

Just to make sure that I didn't get bored this summer
I got the scans for my next line Sweet Violet the same
day that Blockheads 2 started.
I've been rather busy so if I haven't answered
something on Messenger it may be awhile.

Also Tammie reminded me to tell you that I hit my limit of Friends that Facebook will
let me have quite awhile ago.  I tried switching to a business account so I
could have more Friends but it messed everything up so I went back to a
regular account.

Besides designing new quilts for my Sweet Violet fabric line for Fall Market,
this is what I'm working on right now - the front and
back panels of the summer Tablestand Quilt -
Down by the Sea.

To join the Club and get 15% off of all Tablestand Kits, Stands and Headers
go to to the Clubs page by clicking here
or email Tammie at janpatekquiltsinc@gmail.com.

I'm not sure who else is going to be posting a block each week
but I'll try and find out so I can send you to see what they've done.
For now, I'd better get back to work.
Happy quilting.

Moda Blockheads 2, Block #1-

Stellar Star by Lynne of Kansas Troubles

To see what Lynne did with her block click here and
to download the pattern click here.

Moda has also gotten together some
Basic Instructions for us
and you can see and read them by clicking here.

I'm going to make the Blockheads 2 quilt out of Lilac Ridge which is in stores now
and my next line called "Sweet Violet" which will ship in February
so if you want to do a "Quilt Along" grab some fabric
and quilt along with me.  The fabrics used in this block are
2216-15, 2212-16, 2211-11, 2214-13 and 2218-22.
Or use Lilac Ridge as the basic and throw in some others.
We had some really awesome quilts come out of Blockheads 1.

And speaking of awesome quilts and quilters
Laurie Simpson is the awesome quilter I asked to join us this year.

This is Birds Hill Lane made out of her
Midwinter Reds fabric line
and she has the patterns in her Etsy store.
You can go to her blog to find out by clicking here.

And lets go see what the "old" blockheads have done
with Lynne's block and who they've invited to join us

                                                                                Betsy Chutchian
                                      http://betsysbestquiltsandmore.blogspot.com/

                                                               Jo Morton
                                           http://jomortonquilts.com/jos_journal/

                                             Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings
                                                    www.lisabongean.com

                                                  http://blog.modafabrics.com/

And last but certainly not least,
here are 4 of the 8 little 6" quilts I
made from some of last years blocks.

We put them together into a bundle and put them on sale
to celebrate the beginning of Blockheads 2.
The price is 25% off and includes all fabrics for
the tops, binding and the hangers.
The get to my store, click here.

Well folks, we're off to a running start:)
Keep quilting

Wednesday, May 23, 2018

It took awhile to get here

But It's still May:)

And this is Audra's Iris Garden.
The iris came from my Grandmother Laird's garden.
When we moved into our house in Kansas City Grandma Laird
(Audra) brought some to our house and planted them.
Years later when we moved my mother up to Cameron, we brought some of the Iris
and planted them at my house and at my sister Nancy's house.

Last week our oldest son Brian moved into the house he and his wife
Shannon had built at the north edge of Kansas City.

Here's the quilt block I'm working on from my pattern "3 Houses" out of
Betsy Chutchian's line "Harriet's Handwork".
This is their daughter Brooke (you can tell it's Brooke by the yellow hat).

And this is the fence that our son Max planted this spring at the edge of his
property in Kansas City after his privacy fence blew down.
(At the moment it's quite a bit smaller but Thuja trees grow quickly)
In August, we will transplant some of Grandma Laird's Iris at both Brian and Max's houses.
She was a wonderful woman and her heritage will live on through her beautiful iris.

And this is Audra's Iris Garden -
my tribute to her made out of my fabric line of the same name.
The BOM pattern is on sale for 50% off this week.
You can buy it by clicking here.

Be sure and come back each week.
It's almost time for Moda Blockheads 2.

Thursday, May 3, 2018

It's Still May but now it's Thursday.

This is "Spring at Last" made out of Lilac Ridge.
Appropriate title don't you think?
I thought spring would never come this year.
Anyway, you can get the pattern or a kit
by clicking here.

And believe it or not the 4th of July is on it's way
so I thought I would make Liberty Garden
the book special this month.

This is Liberty Eagle (pattern inside).

There are patterns for 4 smaller wallhangings
as well as the larger wallhanging on the front cover,
(Liberty Houses is hanging in my hall at the moment-
Birds and Americana are always in season in our house)

And the larger Liberty Garden Quilt will probably
go up in the foyer as soon as the
Birds & Bunnies come down.

And Blockheads be watching - #2 is in the works.

Keep quilting ladies.
