Blockheads 3. Block 46

                                                                 Rose block

I hope I have the right number

but at least this is the right block.

To download the pattern you

will need to click here.

And of course, this is the
Yellow Rose of Texas.

What other color could it be on
Moda's website??

And since this is a somewhat tricksy block,
I thought I would post a couple of
smaller projects from our Vintage Book
Up on the Rooftop

Christmas stockings are
always welcome so here are
two from the book

Rudolph Stocking
and a

                                                                      Snowman Stocking

You can go to the
store to order the book by
clicking here

Before you go to see what the others
have done with my rose block,
make a comment, any old comment
and we'll have a drawing for a
Layer Cake of my latest fabrics,
Mill Creek Garden.
I'm going to be resting after surgery
but Carrie said she would make sure
a comment gets picked and the Layer Cake
mailed.

For now,  lets go check out
the other ladies and my rose block

Our Vintage Book
this month is Up on the Rooftop
and this is one of the

quilts in it "Rudolph and Company".
You can just repeat using the same
footprint and handprint
or
if you have lots of kids or
grandkids you can use all of their
footprints and handprints.  Then they
can sign their block.
And be sure to have them date it.

Meantime  lets go see
what the other ladies did with Betsy's block

that's on the back cover.

It's 80" x 85" and goes on
the boy's bed every Christmas
along with 2 pillow shams.
It's quick, easy to make and
always puts me in the mood
for Christmas.

But for now, lets go see

Block 42

Starburst
by Joanna of FigTree

Now, I think I'd better explain what's
going on with me and why my posts
may be a little erratic for a short while.

It seems that my body has gotten carried
away with making the fluid that surrounds
the brain and spinal cord.  Too much fluid
causes pressure on the brain and can interfere
with walking and thinking, among other things.

It's called "water on the brain"
or hydrocephalus.
My thinking is still pretty much OK
(only slight memory problems so far)
but walking is exhausting.
(I wake up, go to the kitchen to
start the coffee and need a nap.)

Luckily it's curable and I found  a
very good neurologist and neurosurgeon.

What they have to do is make a slit at the base
of my brain and insert a shunt to drain off the
fluid.  Then I'll be good as new.
And my doctor had 7 years of postgraduate
training at Mayo Clinic to learn now to do it.
To say nothing to the fact that the medical
school he went to is one of the top 20 in the nation.

Max's wife who is a charge nurse at Centerpoint
(a hospital in Kansas City) and my grandson Jake
who is in Dental School both checked him out
to make sure I was in good hands.

On a much lighter note, these are my  Silver Laced
Orpington chickens.   I call them my bowling ball chickens
because I think they look like bowling balls.

2 things.....1) I can't remember what the specials for
this week are and Tammie has gone home so you'll
have to check back tomorrow
and 2)  - Lets go see what the other ladies did with Fig Tree's block
